With Sake, nothing tastes better than Olives. But you would have to be a Levantine living in Japan to know that.

I respect your opinion and highly support it. About 40 years ago, less women wear hijab in Syria than they do today; I wonder if people have become more religious or major national and international events have played a role! It maybe possible that our culture of sex-separtion have played a role in that where men are men are hawks and women are rabbits.

Baby, it’s all good! – A modern hijab poem

Author unknown

What do you see when you look at me
Do you see someone limited, or someone free
All some people can do is just look and stare
Simply because they can’t see my hair
Others think I am controlled and uneducated
They think that I am limited and un-liberated
They are so thankful that they are not me
Because they would like to remain ‘free’

Well free isn’t exactly the word I would’ve used
Describing women who are cheated on and abused
They think that I do not have opinions or voice
They think that being hooded isn’t my choice
They think that the hood makes me look caged
That my husband or dad are totally outraged
All they can do is look at me in fear
And in my eye there is a tear

Not because I have been stared at or made fun of
But because people are ignoring the One up above
On the day of judgment they will be the fools
Because they were too ashamed to play by their own rules
Maybe the guys won’t think I am a cutie
But at least I am filled with more inner beauty
See I have declined from being a guy’s toy
Because I won’t let myself be controlled by a boy

Real men are able to appreciate my mind
And aren’t busy looking at my behind
Hooded girls are the ones really helping the Muslim cause
The role that we play definitely deserves applause
I will be recognized because I am smart and bright
And because some people are inspired by my sight
The smart ones are attracted by my tranquility
In the back of their mind they wish they were me

We have the strength to do what we think is right
Even if it means putting up a life long fight
You see we are not controlled by a mini skirt and tight shirt
We are given only respect, and never treated like dirt
So you see, we are the ones that are free and liberated
We are not the ones that are sexually terrorized and violated
We are the ones that are free and pure
We’re free of STD’s that have no cure

So when people ask you how you feel about the hood
Just sum it up by saying, ‘Baby its all good’

i find that this is a very 'interesting' issues to discuss, however im a bit lagged. I agree with front bumper, so much. Im a muslim girl from Malaysia... and if u dont know in my country so many women wear hijab without understanding the purpose of it. You can see girls with hijab as young as 13yo holding hands with their bf everywhere in Kuala Lumpur, they wear hijab while wearing tight jeans and figure hugging top, and whata worst is that, university student caught in camera committing adultery while the girl was still wearing the headscarf when they did it. (astaghfirullah). If its too embarrassing, (i feel ashamed writing this) and its a social disease. The cause is that, all these girls are ppressured or forced to wear hijab, and they actually don't wanna do it, hijab becaomes a trend and fashion. Peple become hypocrites, they wear hijab so that they will not be critised and their parents name is 'saved'. But ofcourse there r alot girls really wear it because of eeman solely, and on their own will. That is why, in my opinion hijab should be a choice but women should be taught about hijab untill she is ready to wear it, and, as you say, practise the true meaning of hijab. As you said with hijab comes other responsibilties, it is a hard task only Allah knows. As for me, i wore hijab since i was seven becus it is the rule in school, and bcus my parents told me so. But i kept on asking my mother, why do we have to wear hijab??? Isnt covering the whole body except your head and mebbe hand to elbow is decent enough??? Why hair? Whats with hair anyway??? Nobody gave me a satisfying asnwer. So im wearing it without feeling convinced. Now here studying in United Kingdom, i took of my hijab temporarily, becus i have experienced of antiIslam attacks. I was spitted on the face, lil boys throwing stones at me, collegues ignoring me and etc... list is too long. Instead of hijab becoming a salvation it becomes attraction from harrassers. I dunno whether i will wear hijab back, mebe i will, but after understanding few things when im not a hijab wearer. To be honest, its really hard to be a muslim woman, sometimes men never appreciate the sacrifices that we do.....

well, throughout my blog, I've made it pretty clear where I stand from religion...

I'm BOTH Atheist and Secularist [there's a difference], that's the highlights of my religious status [it's negotiable and flexible... like everything else in life]...

Does that mean that we are limited?! I don't think so... ignorance doesn't mean disability ;)

I believe in Humanity as a whole. I believe that in a series of coincedences [I CAN NOT PROVE any of this, just like u can't prove god's existance, they're just beliefs and possibilities] we reached to a level where we have our own consciousness... which means a definite higher rate of evolving... those are highlights... I can't get into details... but anyways..
