What is Yafa?
A 13 year old [Qawmieh Sourieh] girl that her father swore to name her Yafa,

That’s what’s left of Yafa.
The rest is Tel Aviv now.
I play that song, and tears start running, I donno anything about Yafa, except that girl that has an amazing belief in the Mandarins of Yafa in her eyes. You can still hear the salesmen in the bazars of Latakia calling after their Yafawi Mandarins.
And a fairouz voice telling me that, we will be back someday,
But then I wake up, and ask her again, Back? Where?

Palestinians can go back to Palestine or what is called now israel, many people refuse even to think about it, but wait a minute:
if israel is receiving tens of thousands of immigrants every year, then why can’t they be Palestinians?
of course, Israel won’t do so because it was based on replacing one people by people from all over the world, many of them aren’t jews and don’t know what Judaism is actually they just moved for money.
but if you think that there is no place for palestinians then you’re wrong, there is a place for them.
so yea, they’ll be back and they will build there destroyed cities and villages again…

In Yafa, many houses were destroyed , most of the population was expelled if not massacred in 1948. Then suddenly new colonialist ugly buildings grew up like mushrooms after sionist invasion.
It is sure that Yafa is absolutely not the same anymore. But who gives a damn, Yafa has been here for 4000 years and it’s not 60 years under the sionist boot that will erase it’s history and the place that takes in our heart.
Yafa is more than a city, it’s a culture, it’s the place where thousands of our ancestors lived with prosperity…
Everyone in the world feel attached to his homeland or city, even if he or she didn’t even see it ! This is called ATTACHEMENT TO THE LAND, the roots. This is what’s keeping us struggeling and resisting !
Now, will we go back to Yafa one day ? Of course we will. If not all of us, then many of us and if none of us, then our children. The thing is, u have to beleive in it and fight not to forget it, becoz if u don’t do it, nobody will offer it to u on a golden plate.
How ?
Peace will come one day. The project of 2 states is totally dead with the wall and the continuation of colonisation : it is impossible to make a viable independant state.
The only solution is one state for 2 people. Then, if we really want to go back (people are pourishing in refugee camps, still waiting), then we will make it a red line for peace. Isn’t it the right of any refugee to go home ? (UN resolutions and human rights) This goes also for other palestinian cities in 48.
Every empire will decline, usa will soon join the club.
Justice will be soon.
